We're currently looking for our next Senior Basetech Engineer. Someone with a passion for electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed.
You will be an integral part of our Basetech team, within our Electrical & Electronics department, with a mission to deliver a high performance well working electrical platform to our car programs based on base technologies like:
• Vehicle and Car Mode Management (VMM)
• Software Download and OTA
• Diagnostics
• Car Configuration
• AutoSAR
• Network Communications
This position is located at our HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. What matters most is that people get the time, and support, to do what needs to be done. And to enjoy doing it, of course.
The responsibilities
As Senior Basetech Engineer, you are expected to take a leading role in the development, deployment and follow up of all our technologies in the running car programs. Both leading, supporting, training and following up the status, progression and quality in development industrialization and maintenance phase of our cars. See below for a more thorough breakdown of the various tasks and areas you'll be responsible for:
• Align with project management on content and expected maturity of components
• Meet with ECU teams and handshake proper requirements
• Support technical discussions with suppliers, internal teams and partner OEM(s)
• Manage existing requirements and assist in updating applicable documentation when needed
• Assist in planning and monitoring of needed activities to integrate electrical technologies into new vehicle programs
• Prepare status reports and feedback to the project & line management teams
• Discuss results and new DVMs with Validation Engineers to support their efforts
• Define methods, tools, and processes to ensure maximum efficiency
• Support development future strategies and technology roadmaps including highlighting new development required to deliver new product content
• Assist in defining the vision and ambitions of the platform technology development
• Act as the company ambassador for the Basetech team.
The ideal candidate
In order to succeed in this role, and at Polestar in general, there are a few characteristics you'll need to have. Tenacity. Flexibility. Curiosity. Though you have deep and wide experience within the field, you're still curious and not afraid to try new approaches and out of the box methods. You thrive on interaction with persons from diverse disciplines and backgrounds and are excited at the opportunity to support and assist us all to create the best possible solutions for the present and future electric vehicles.
In addition, you'll need the following qualifications:
• At least 7+ years of previous relevant experience in electrical & software development within the Automotive industry
• Previous experience within the Basetech
• Previous experience with Volvo, Lotus, Geely or CEVT projects
• Good understanding of Automotive Electrical system
• Electrical, Electronic Systems, Electro-mechanical, Automotive, or similar engineering degree. Other recognized engineering qualifications combined with relevant experience may be considered.
Meritorious:
• Practical experience of vehicle electrical architectures based upon Ethernet, CAN, LIN and Flexray is highly desired
• Experience of the full product lifecycle, from concept through to vehicle launch
• Experience of Automotive product development systems (VPDS, FPDS, GPDS, NPDS etc) and release processes within the automotive sector
• Experience of delivering electrical systems in accordance with Safety & Security requirements.
