hela Sverige Adecco Life Science is now recruiting a Senior Research Scientist to join the in vitro team within the heart failure bioscience department at AstraZeneca, Gothenburg. This is a full-time consulting assignment starting July 1st, proceeding until December 31st. Interviews are being hold on a rolling basis so please apply no later than May 16th.

AstraZeneca has a patient-centric approach for discovering novel treatments for patients with metabolic disease, chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular disease. The three areas are integrated into one unit - the cardiovascular and metabolic disease innovative medicines unit (CVMD IMED). At the heart failure Bioscience department, the focus is on identifying and validating new drug targets for patients with cardiovascular disease and heart failure. The team delivers key data to projects across all phases of the drug discovery and development and we work with different modalities such as small molecules, mRNA, antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) and peptides.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Independently design, plan and execute in vitro/ex vivo experiments using cellular biology methodologies, from pre-target identification to projects in clinical stage
* Independently analyse data, document and record results in compliance with AZ requirements
* Confidently interpret and communicates results to teams to ensure efficient communication of information to enable fast and efficient progression of projects
* Collaborate with peers within and across departments to maintain and expand understanding of drug discovery; and to provide expert input and technical instruction in support of diverse projects and teams as needed
* Communicate and share information between projects within heart failure department in bioscience and across other functions and disease areas when relevant
* Ensures own work, and work of peers, is compliant with Good Laboratory Practice, Safety, Health and Environment standards and all other relevant internal AstraZeneca standards and external regulations
Essential Requirements
* Masters degree in a relevant discipline
* Background in drug discovery and development in the pharmaceutical industry
* Experience in primary cell culturing and cell based assays
* Experience in standard cell and molecular biology techniques, such as real-time PCR, Western blotting, ICC, ELISA
* Strong collaboration and communication skills.
* Basic statistical analysis of data
Desirable Requirements
* PhD in a relevant discipline
* Knowledge and experience of working with cardiac cell types including progenitor cells, cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells
* Knowledge and experience of in vitro models/assays for heart failure
* Isolation of primary cardiac cells
