hela Sverige CVMD Innovative Medicines (CVMD iMed) within AZ is accountable for the discovery and the development of new drugs in the cardiovascular and metabolic arena up to Ph2 within three main strategic areas - cardiovascular/heart failure, diabetes (insulin resistance and islets health) and chronic kidney diseases.
The role
• Single-point accountability for bridging early and late development for Saxagliptin and Dapagliflozin, and generally for late stage programs and initiatives around T2D
• Core member of the Life Cycle team and responsible for interaction with key stakeholders from late stage organization. Accountable for providing early research/TS input into late development projects at all levels, from clinical study design, through regulatory questions/filings to publication&communication strategy
• Core member of TS leadership Team and responsible for interaction with key stakeholders within CVMD iMed for set-up and execution of project strategy. Accountable for identifying and driving key internal and external opportunities, activities and collaborations to strengthen the science around the late stage portfolio projects
• Accountable for leveraging opportunities arising from late stage portfolio (eg fully characterized biobanks, learning on MoA, hints into patient segmentation) to support and expand early portfolio
• Accountable for sustaining and expanding the external network around his/her area of expertise and for bringing back to the team key inputs from outside world
• Providing key expert input in the development of communication material concerning the MoA of our compounds, in close collaboration with the Medical Affairs function
• When appropritate, accountable for leading investigational subteams aimed to fully understand the clinical profile of the late-stage assets
• Lead a subteam to coordinate review/approval and monitoring of investigator sponsored pre-clinical studies in support of the overall strategy of late-stage or launched assets
• Provide expert scientific input into the validation/monitoring of investigator sponsored clinical study proposals
• Drive high impact publications of relevance to the project
Key Deliverables
• Ensure that key pieces of sciences are delivered to the late stage portfolio and launched products to support branding and differentiation of our assets
• Ensure that opportunities from late Stage portfolio are fully exploited for the benefit and the growth of the early portfolio
• Ensure expert scientific input in key project documents for internal decision making, and regulatory documentation/interactions
• Promote the visibility of CVMD iMed early research outside AZ
Minimum Requirements
• MD, PhD in related field
• At least 10 years experience in Pharma industry, with clear understanding of the drug development process and regulatory requirements and with a track record of academic merits and current academic affiliation
• Strong expertise in diabetes area, including but not limited to incretins and glucose transporters biology
• Outstanding publication record
• Excellent communication and proven ability to influence others
