What you will be part of
For more than a year, you will participate in an international programme that is uniquely designed to boost your career as well as to provide you with the right toolbox to develop as a leader. From day one, you will be appointed to a position with permanent employment at one of Saab's sites worldwide.At Saab Kockums, a business area within Saab, we represent state of the art competence within the naval segment - on as well as below the surface. We design, produce and maintain naval ships and submarines based on advanced stealth technology. Other successful products include the Stirling air-independent propulsion machinery and mine-counter vessels.At the business unit we have a section with high competence within the tecnichal field of Mechanical Design. The section is responsible for studies, proposal calculations and system design of mechanical systems such as propulsion and rigg and dech equipment for anchoring, berthing, towing etc. on our surface vessels and submarines. The section is also working with detail design and production drawings.The section is now looking for a colleague who wants to develop her/his knowledge and skills together with us! We are a well performing team who support and learn from each other and who needs to strengthen our team due to new and exciting assignments.
Your role
During the programme, you will get the opportunity to create an overall understanding of the company that will prepare you for an exciting future together with us. Your development will be aligned with Saab's business goals and the programme will enable you to contribute to our business and take part in actual projects.You will alternate between developing your competence within the Graduate programme and deliviering within on-going projects at the section Mechanical Design. During work within the projects the tasks will consists of development and design. As a designer you can support the team with technical solutions as well as detail design and production drawings. As system responsible the designer is in charge of defining and describing the system, ensuring that we are compliant with the technical requirements and that the system can be verified.The design work is conducted interdisciplinary in tight cooperation with related technical sections such as hydromechanics, stress analysis and production in order to ensure system functionality and installation within the submarine or surface vessel. We are also in contact with customers, suppliers and partners all over the world. As a team, we are developing designs that positions us as one of the worlds prime naval yards within the submarine and surface vessel segments!
Your skills and experience

You have an overall business understanding, possess a strategic thinking and deliver excellent results. Your motivation and commitment help you, and people around you, to perform on a daily basis. To apply for this program you have a maximum of 2 years work experience.In order to be successful within your role at the section of Mechanical Design we think you have a broad skill in mechanical engineering which translates into a degree as master of science in Mechanical or Vessel Engineering, preferably with specialization within the field of Maritime Engineering, Naval Architecture or similar.Some positions have tasks including defense secrecy. In such circumstances you are required to conduct a security screening in accordance with the Protective Security Act and be approved for security clearance by the authority.
