Role Purpose
The purpose of the role is to develop novel polymers and polymer compounds targeting mainly Wire and Cable applications. Working in international, cross-functional teams you will be involved in all aspects of polymer development; polymer chemistry, analysis, material properties and modelling, enabling step-change innovation and create value for our customers.
Contribution
Translate customer/application requirements into polymer properties, especially low density polyethylene.
Independently lead R&D-tasks in an international project environment.
Design of experimental tests and data interpretation.
Develop polymers/compounds meeting project targets.
Optimize polymerisation and post-reactor modifications, especially related to high pressure technology.
Initiate and support patenting of new polymers and products.
Establish continuous interfaces with internal and external customers/suppliers in order to optimize development and utilization of own expertise.
Participate as a Borealis representative in formal networks; develop a positive liaison with relevant external contacts (e.g. universities, suppliers, institutes etc.).
Contribute to publications (articles, lectures, posters, papers etc.) in relevant fields to profile Borealis expertise and increasingly gain external contacts.

Knowledge, skills and experience
MSc or PhD degree in relevant field (chemistry, physics, material science, polymer engineering/processing or equivalent)
Understanding of the relations between polymer structure, processing and properties.
Experimental design skills.
Excellence in data analysis and interpretation.
Ability to work in multi-cultural and cross-functional teams.
Understanding of the patenting process.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
Documentation, presentation and reporting skills.

This is a permanent position in Borealis R&D-department Innovation & Technology in the competence area High Pressure Polyethylene, Structure-Property-Processing-Relationship (HPPE SPPR).
