At the Institute of Biomedicine we study the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of microorganisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat disorders.
Job assignments
The successful applicant will lead a research group focusing on nuclear microRNA mediated gene regulation in development and in disease and will be responsible of developing the group and its research activities. Responsibilities include PhD and postdoc supervision, teaching and administrative tasks.
Techniques and methods used in the group include culturing of human and mouse cell lines, work with embryonic stem cells, advanced RNA sequencing methodologies such as small-RNA sequencing and CLIP based methodologies and advanced microscopy-based methods. In addition, the group will use biochemical and molecular biology methods.
Qualifications
PhD within Life Science or Medicine is required. An international postdoctoral experience from a leading scientific environment is a strong merit. The candidate should have a strong publication track record and independent funding from major granting agencies. Documented experience in all abovementioned methods and tasks is a prerequisite. The candidate should have documented leadership and teaching qualifications including student supervision and academic assignments.
Prerequisites for the position is that the candidate displays strong personal motivation, and is fluent in English and Swedish (both spoken and written). A major emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Employment
The employment is a full time permanent position, placed at the Institute of Biomedicine. First day of employment as agreed. Probationary employment could be applied.
