Researcher
Location: Institute of Medicine, Gothenburg
At the Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Nutrition, research in several different areas is conducted, such as endocrinology, hematology, gastroenterology, hypertension, pulmonary medicine and allergology and clinical nutrition. Research is focused on body composition and
energy metabolism. Research is conducted in close cooperation with health care at both the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and Mölndal hospital.
Clinical Nutrition (within the Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Nutrition) conducts research and teaching in the field of nutrition and health. The department is responsible for the
Dietitican program where nearly 40 students graduate annually. The subject of clinical nutrition is defined as the science of the relationship between diet and health. Interest in and
understanding of the role of diet in health and disease has increased significantly in recent years, and thus increases the demand for scientifically based guidance on health-promoting diets.
Nutritional Epidemiology involves the application of epidemiological methods to nutritional problems. This research often utilizes the natural variability of dietary exposure in the population and examines the connection between this and various chronic diseases or infectious diseases.
Examples of research in nutritional epidemiology cohort studies are the risk of having a heart attack among those with high intake of a certain food or diet compared to those with a low
intake. The field also includes studies where the researcher performs controlled dietary interventions.
Job assignments
The appointment covers to independently conduct research and publish scientific papers in nutritional epidemiology. The research specifically includes statistical analysis of cohort data on
40 000 individuals, where meal patterns will be described and related to health. The research also includes an effectiveness evaluation with mixed models regression of a dietary intervention
postpartum among overweight or obese women. Duties also include managing and supervising master thesis included in the Dietitian program at both basic and advanced levels. The
appointment is located at the Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Nutrition at the Department of Medicine.
Qualifications
Doctorate in the subject of nutrition and reproduction. Experience in nutritional epidemiology is desirable. Scientific skills should first be considered. Experience of analyzing cohort data, as well
as effectiveness studies (such as mixed models regression) and publishing within the field of nutrition and reproduction, as well as in the field of meal patterns is an advantage.
Teaching skills are considered secondary. Experience of working with the evidence-based
evaluation system GRADE is an advantage.
In addition to research and teaching skills, ability to cooperate as well as administrative capacity
are taken into account.
