The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) is hiring a talented and motivated Research Assistant to join its team working on Peace and Development, with focus on peacebuilding and resilience.

SIPRI is an independent international institute whose core mission is to undertake research and activities on security, conflict and peace. Established in 1966, SIPRI provides data, analysis and recommendations, based on open sources, to policymakers, researchers, media and the interested public. The position
The Peace and Development cluster explores the conditions conducive to sustainable development and positive peace, focusing on how policy and practice by governments, international organisations and other actors can contribute to creating the enabling conditions for peace and resilience. It contributes to both research and dialogue to inform policy and practice. The cluster addresses a broad range of topics with multidisciplinary analysis, applying a variety of social science methods.

We are now looking for a Research Assistant to provide research support in the area of peace and development.

Your main responsibilities and tasks as Research assistant would be

• Conducting literature reviews;
• Carry out quantitative and/or qualitative analysis under supervision;
• Provide background analysis on select topics;
• Contribute to proposal development.

Qualifications
The person we are looking for should have familiarity with peacebuilding, conflict, and development. 2-3 year's work experience relevant for the position. Masters degree in peace and conflict studies, development studies, political science, international relations, economics, or other related discipline with relevant experience.

To succeed in this role you are well organized, flexible, and demonstrate communication skills. Methodological and analytical rigor, thoroughness and attention to detail are other important qualities for the post.

Contract period
Starting as soon as possible, the contract period will initially last for 1 year with the possibility of extension. The post is full-time. The post requires that the candidate becomes a resident in Stockholm, Sweden when employment starts.

The salary package will be negotiated individually.
