Our department is part of the function Quality, Environment and Product Compliance. In the role as Regulatory Affairs Manager, you will be part of the cross-functional Regulatory Affairs team at Volvo Penta, with highly competent colleagues in a stimulating environment.
WHAT CHALLENGES DO WE HAVE?
Many of today's regulations contribute to phase out substances of concerns from our products (REACH, RoHS, EU POP, F-Gas, IMO IHM rules... and similar regulations outside EU). Phase out of harmful substances and chemicals are also an enabler for material recycling and circularity and is therefore integrated in new sustainability regulations.
We are looking for a regulatory affairs manager, who can interact externally with rule makers/stakeholders and get a clear picture of the requirements. In parallel engage and interact internally to set up chemical- and substance of concern (SoC)strategies that contributes to making Volvo Penta products and articles toxic free, in collaboration with similar Volvo Group and Volvo Penta regulatory affairs and compliance functions.
You will mainly work with regulatory agencies in EU and international associations, to influence the regulation development in the best favorable manner for Volvo Penta's positions. You will lead internal activities to prepare and anchor our lobbying strategies, you will act as a Volvo Penta representative in industry peers and work with our competitors to build consensus positions, in respect of the Competition Law Compliance (CLC) and you will secure our lobbying position is well reflected in the industry position.
Asa Regulatory Affairs Manager, you also have a key responsibility to coordinate, communicate and organize internally about the future regulatory development, interpretation of the legal requirements and potential associated risks. With this, you will have a key role to support Volvo Penta's compliance functions around Substance of Concern and Chemical strategies.

More than that we expect you have extensive experience in the regulation development in EU on REACH and in the substance area, experience from regulation development in other regions is beneficial, as well as knowledge in the Automotive area.
Working in a global environment, you have excellent verbal and written English skills. You have as well negotiation skills and experience of finding compromise. You have good communication skills and a good capacity to analyze/summarize texts to focus on key issues.
Other qualifications are:
REACH specialist
Master of Science or Bachelor of Science in Engineering
A structured and accurate way of working, with experience in defining requirement and balancing requirement between stakeholders and technical solution
Experience in regulation development in EU
Experience with other chemical legislations
Knowledge about chemistry and materials
Experience with chemical legislation implementation (i.e.: IMDS) would be an added value
