The arena
A Senior Research Scientist position is available with focus on respiratory cell biology. In the R&I iMED Bioscience organization you will be part of a team contributing to finding new therapies for inflammatory diseases, primarily for COPD and Asthma. The role
You will make significant contributions to the practical delivery of projects through design and development of cellular systems useful to generate in vitro biology and pharmacology data, ensuring that your scientific knowledge influences project progression in accordance with portfolio priorities. The work is essentially lab-based and may also include taking responsibility for a wider area of biology support delivered to projects, and to act as a mentor and coach to more junior scientists. Through maintaining awareness of current scientific literature, you will develop understanding of the translational aspects of the utilized model systems and contribute to build knowledge about respiratory disease and improved project support.
Required experience
We are looking for an independent, highly motivated, experienced scientist with a PhD background or BSc/MSc plus relevant experience. The successful candidate is a strong cell biologist with experience of respiratory/inflammation disease areas. Experience in handling and characterisation of airway cells in primary cultures and measurements of functional parameters from such cells are highly meriting, as is experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry. Experience of working with inflammatory cells or of applying molecular pharmacology techniques (e.g. receptor binding kinetics) in cell systems are also seen as positives.
You should be a dedicated team-player with a high degree of flexibility and collaborative skills. In addition, strong scientific drive, good communication skills and delivery focus is required.
