hela Sverige We are looking for a R&D Specialist/Research Engineer, biobarrier development, to our Biomaterials Innovation team. This position is based in Sweden or Finland, preferably in Sickla Stockholm, and you will report directly to the Director of Research Biobarriers Innovation, Biomaterials. This is a temporary position from the 1st of February 2022 until the 1st of February 2023.

About the position
As R&D Specialist/Research Engineer, you will focus on development of concepts for biobased barrier films and coatings. Your tasks include planning, executing, analyzing and reporting development activities in close cooperation with our laboratory engineers and senior experts in the field. You will engage in biobased barrier product development from idea to scale and will carry out both lab and desktop work.

Qualifications
Are you the one? In order to succeed in this role, we expect you to have minimum 3-5 years of R&D experience as well as an excellent understanding of (barrier) coating technology/process/chemistry and biobased polymers & materials. Your proficiency is based on a master's degree in (chemical) engineering or (polymer) chemistry. You have solid competence in managing trials in R&D environment. You communicate fluently in English both orally and in writing.
As a person you are analytical, goal-oriented and driven. You have a self-directed, focused and organised way of working. You co-operate well with others and communicate fluently with different groups.

The Biomaterials innovation organisation focuses on identifying business opportunities and developing new products in markets for renewable materials and bio-based chemicals. Biobarrier Innovation team acts as a center of excellence in next generation barrier solutions for (food) packaging. The target is to generate breakthrough technological barrier solutions into pilot/demo scale. Biobarriers Innovation is a diverse and multi-disciplinary team that today consists of 22 members from 5 different nationalities.
The Biomaterials division meets the growing demand for the replacement of products made from fossil-based and hazardous materials with bio-based solutions. We use all fractions of biomass, like lignin and sugars, to develop new solutions. We work to replace fossil-based materials with new applications such as carbon for energy storage, bio-based binders, and bio-based carbon fiber. The division's offering includes a wide variety of pulp grades to meet the demands of paper, board, tissue, textile and hygiene product producers as well as materials from side streams of our processes, such as tall oil and turpentine from biomass.
