Are you ready to take on a position where you can influence the future development of the power industry? In the role of R&D Portfolio Manager, you will lead a global team of R&D project managers and be responsible for the R&D portfolio for FACTS, developing systems and solutions for power quality.

FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) is in a process of strategic expansion and intensive technology development. It is a key technology for the global energy transition to renewable resources. Customers include transmission system operators, industries, wind power and the transportation sector. You will join a team committed to providing top quality solutions that are sympathetic to the needs of our customers - and to society.

Tasks

You will have overall responsibility for the R&D budget for FACTS and to deliver on time, on budget, on quality. You will work closely together with product managers regarding the direction and content, as well as with Engineering, Project Operations and Service teams regarding the deliverables. In addition, you will be a member of the Business Unit R&D management team, participating in technology strategy preparation. You will also join the product group FACTS management meetings.

The role is based in ABB's offices in central Västerås, Sweden, about 1h by train from Stockholm.
Team consists of about ten highly motivated and professional R&D Project Managers located in Sweden and Switzerland. About 80 R&D engineers participate in these projects.

Requirments

We are looking for a team player with drive and interpersonal competence, strong leadership and communication skills, who can manage demanding expectations and complex interdependencies. Proficiency in English, written and spoken alike, is required for this role.

You probably have an M.Sc. or higher in Electrical/Power/Physics/Power Electronics as well as some experience of commercial project management and/or R&D project management. It is an added value if you have a project management certification and if you have experience of Lean Product Development. Our development model is influenced by the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

Most of the work is done in our Vasteras offices and via online communication tools, but you may from time to time be required to travel abroad, for instance to India, China and Switzerland.
