You will be part of Corporate Research in Västerås. The Power Technologies department is a major hub for key technology platforms in ABB's business, with 130 employees, highly recognized scientists and experienced technology experts from all over the world. The R&D activities span from power systems modeling and control to material science with excellent simulation environment, state-of-the-art laboratories and product qualifications facilities.
Challenge: As R&D Engineer you will be part of the future in technology. You will be part of a team that works on materials for electrical insulation applications and you will, among other things, contribute to the development of novel materials and concepts. Modeling, manufacturing and simulations as well as experimental lab activities will be core activities. Also front-end research is an important element in this position in which you will collaborate closely with academia. In this position planning and execution of lab activities are key tasks. In addition your range of responsibilities will include teamwork and contact with suppliers and you will develop strong project management skills. Requirements: You hold an M.Sc. alternatively a Ph.D. in Material Science or Polymer Technologies. Experience from R&D is a requirement meaning that you are used to work in a laboratory. If you have a background in Product Development or within Electrical Engineering it is meriting. To be successful in the position excellent English skills are a requirement. On a personal level you are as structured and organized as you are analytical. In addition your innovative mind and hands-on attitude enables you to deliver excellent results.
