Overview
Essity operates in many global markets and deals with increasing and diverse legislative and policy frameworks that have impact on its business. The number of actors that are simultaneously driving their various agendas has increased and the issues raised by external stakeholders have multiplied. Public Affairs work with Essity Global and Business Units in adapting their strategies to meet or gain competitive advantage through public policy and simultaneously contribute to society.
Sustainability and Public Affairs, as part of Essity's business model, is based on economic, environmental and social value creation. We have high ambitions and targets to continuously develop the sustainability agenda and to keep our position as a sustainability leader.
We are now looking for a Public Affairs Director to strengthen our Essity Group Public Affairs team which is part of Group Function Sustainability and Public Affairs.
Reporting to the Vice President Public Affairs, the Public Affairs Director provides direction, develops and delivers Essity's Global Public Affairs activities with special focus on Circular Economy, Fiber & other environmental aspects. The Public Affairs Director is also responsible for representing Essity through dialogue and proactive communication in key international fora and organizations.
This position is located at the Essity's head office in the Waterfront Building in Stockholm, which houses the central units for Finance, Strategy and Business Development, Legal, Sustainability, Human Resources and Communications. We offer an international environment where you will operate through global networks in the countries where Essity is represented.



Main Tasks
Lead and develop Essity Global Public Affairs networks (Fiber, Circular Economy) and other environment related working groups e.g. chemicals
Map and prioritize leading global stakeholders for prioritized issues and policies
Define PA strategy and tools for prioritized public policy issues together with Business Units
Develop Essity Public Affairs positioning and lead engagement with governments and stakeholders internationally (EU, embassies, NGOs etc.) and represent Essity in relevant trade associations (CGF, CEPI, others)
Monitor and assess public policy developments, global and local. Analyses and propose actions.
Develop policy messages and targeted advocacy plan and accountabilities in prioritized issues Monitor progress and propose actions

Key Competencies
University degree within the areas political science, law, economy, science.
Appr. 5-10 years' work experience within relevant industries and/or relevant public role preferably in an international context
3-5 years' experience operating at senior levels in industry (ideally with Public Affairs responsibilities) and/or trade associations/NGOs/National Governments/EU Commission
Fluent in Swedish and English
