hela Sverige AstraZeneca is looking to an experienced Project Toxicologist within the CVRM Safety department, ideally based at AstraZeneca's vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden. As well as proven experience gained from working as a project toxicologist in the pharmaceutical industry, this is a visible role that require a high level of interactive communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of employees throughout the organization. The positions will be on an Associate Director level.

Our Function
Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Sciences (CPSS) is a function within our Biopharmaceuticals R&D Unit which contains the non-clinical toxicology functions that support the entire AstraZeneca Portfolio.
Within CPSS, the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) Safety team is a diverse group that includes project toxicologists together with discovery safety specialists and experimental scientists. We apply innovative scientific strategies to drive the design and selection of safe candidate drugs and ensure the effective non-clinical development of new medicines for patients suffering from CVRM diseases.
Within CPSS, we put a strong emphasis on talent development. You will be able to develop your scientific leadership by working together with leaders in investigative toxicology, drug discovery, cell biology, and predictive safety science.
As a Project Toxicologist, your main responsibilities will involve:
* Serve as project toxicologist on allocated projects and provide insight and judgement to enable successful nonclinical development of projects for the CVRM portfolio
* Authoring of high level regulatory documents (e.g. INDs and IMPDs) and contribute to regulatory interactions with health authorities
* Providing specialist nonclinical expertise for evaluation of in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities
* Contributing to, and supporting the delivery of the CPSS CVRM Safety strategy and objectives
* Operating across international boundaries within CPSS as well as cross-functionally in AstraZeneca to lead and manage projects and stakeholders
Requirements
* A PhD education (or equivalent) in Toxicology or a related life-science subject. Applicants without a PhD but with extensive relevant experience are welcome
* Significant number of years' experience working within a pharmaceutical project environment and knowledge and experience of all phases of drug development from candidate nomination to marketing.
* Experience in providing expert design and interpretation of toxicity programs
* Clear project leadership skills required to lead and manage the safety assessment contribution to a portfolio of projects, ability to operate with sensitivity and flexibility within an ever-evolving organisational matrix of project and line management, both functionally and across the business
* Significant skills of influencing and persuasion
* Willingness to challenge conventional thinking and implement creative ideas balanced with a high regard and understanding for the regulatory framework in which AstraZeneca operates is expected
