Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D) apply science and technology that turns concepts into actual medicines which help millions of people. We work across the entire value chain, designing and delivering active ingredients, formulations and devices required to support new medicines - from supplies for use in toxicology studies and clinical trials to developing the technology to ensure drugs can be scaled up for commercial manufacture.
The Intelligent Pharmaceuticals within PT&D is focused on the design, development and registration of commercial connected devices that optimize medication use, improve patient outcomes and collect real world evidence data through digital health. Our programs integrate medicines with digital technology (e.g. software, apps, connected devices & sensors, smart packaging) to create medical devices that help patients and physicians manage their disease.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a talented Project Leader within the Intelligent Pharmaceutical to be based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Depending on your experience we are looking for different levels of Project Leader.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a Project Leader in the Intelligent Pharmaceuticals within PT&D, you will work across several patient-centred digital health projects within one or more therapy areas, from initial engagement and design of the tool through managing the cross functional development team and ensuring implementation of tools into markets or evidence generation clinicals studies.
You will work with both internal and external partners and develop the device to regulatory standards and support the AZ teams with successful commercial launch and benefit realisation. Your responsibilities will include:
• Accountable for managing the development and implementation of one or more projects, delivering those projects within the agreed strategy, plan and scope
• Chairs cross-functional project working teams, where key project decisions are made impacting project investments, risks, timelines and delivery
• Ensuring project follows relevant governance models, quality systems, and legal / regulatory requirements
• Accountable for defining demand ($ + FTEs) associated with the project plan and responsible for the delivery within the agreed project budget (total cost: FTEs and $).
• Responsible for managing the project risk within the agreed scope
• Developing and managing relationships with external technology and service providers
As a Project Leader you will be accountable for a programme of work/therapy area portfolio where you will be defining and delivering the Intelligent Pharmaceutical strategy for the programme. You will also be leading extended team structures and organisation within and beyond AstraZeneca to ensure that an effective implementation can be achieved in strategic markets. The role involves a diverse range of problems / opportunities requiring complex judgements and solutions based on a well-developed level of conceptional thought and strategic vision and analysis, whilst managing a wide variety of stakeholders within PT&D and across the business. As a Project Leader you are also expected to contribute to the development of overall Intelligent Pharmaceutical business and development strategies / risks, and you are expected to have credibility and influence within a wide variety of teams internal and external to AstraZeneca.
Essential requirements and skills
• BSc in Science
• Solid understanding of healthcare and a strong knowledge of the drug/device development processes
• Digital health experience
• Strong leadership and project management skills
• High learning agility
• Excellent influence and collaboration skills and builds relationships quickly
• Resilient
Preferred Background / Experience
• Experience with multiple disease / therapeutic areas and countries / regions
• Commercial business acumen
• Experience of Software as a Medical Device
• Strong network within the digital health / patient centric space
