Social/Emotional/Academic Coaching of Students - K-7:

On-campus support for students in relation to personal, social, emotional and when needed, academic support
Conflict resolution
Parent coaching and/or advising
Personal problem-solving counselling, student advocacy
Coordination on behalf of students to liaise with external agencies (Social Services, referrals to outside professionals, etc.)
Confidential documenting of all incidents that arise regarding counselling and potential academic issues.
Collaboration with leadership in creating and analysing student surveys
Collaborate with teachers to identify problematic student behaviours in need of intervention, and make recommendations (i.e., individual behaviour contracts and specific plans to change behaviour)
Work closely in the transitioning of students from one grade to the next; collaborate with leadership to make recommendations from a social-emotional perspective for student placement
Support teaching staff in the collaboration with parents, when needed, and close collaboration with teachers and staff to develop strategies that are in the best interest of the student

Initiating and follow-through of student programs

Responsible for MYP Advisory program development based on character education and U.S. Social, Emotional Learning Standards (SEL)
Responsible for MYP Parent Advisory, IPC Advisory in connection to school and IPC Learning Profile
Manage Student Committees for IPC (Grades 3-5) and MYP (Grades 6-7)
(For example: Class Ambassadors, Student Council and Lunch Bunch)

Lend additional support to Learning Support

Collaborate with Learning Support to analyse standardised testing and make recommendations for supplemental support for students in need
Collaborate with Admissions when needed in reviewing applications of students with special needs to determine school's suitability to meet those needs.

Required Skills and Experience:

Post-graduate degree and work experience as a School Counsellor, specifically with teaching experience in K - 8th Grades.
Experience in working with and awareness of local laws in regards to Fair and Equal Treatment Plan, Child Protection, and anti-bullying interventions.
Experience working in an international school environment.
Excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills.
A strong ability to establish good rapport with students and adults.
An ability to maintain confidentiality.
An ability to view students with unconditional positive regard.
An ability to show initiative and to work independently.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Fluent in Swedish (reading, writing, speaking)
Ability to administer assessments

Founded in 1951 and operating as a foundation since 2011, Stockholm International School is here to serve the children of the international community as well as Swedish citizens looking for an international education. The school is an independent, open-admission, co-educational Kindergarten to Grade 12 day school governed by a Board of Trustees. All instruction is in English. The educational program is modeled after the International Baccalaureate (IB) guidelines. The school year is mid-August to mid-June and has a minimal instructional period of 180 days divided into two semesters. The school has enjoyed strong academic success and is going through a stage of rapid expansion.
