The School of Science and Technology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in computer science for a fixed-term appointment.

Duties and responsibilities
The postdoctoral researcher will be employed within the collaborative project TracMac. The project aims at designing a remote sensing system for the tracking of articulated manipulators. Duties of the researcher will involve the design, implementation, and evaluation of prototype software modules for 3D sensor data processing. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to travel to partner sites, collect data, propose and implement software algorithms, and evaluate the prototype system in the laboratory and in relevant field operation conditions. The position will also involve collaboration with industrial partners (Atlas Copco and Brokk), as well as work in a scientific research team.

Eligibility
Eligible for the appointment as postdoctoral researcher are applicants holding a doctoral degree in Computer Science, Control Theory, Robotics or in related subject areas. The doctoral degree should have been awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline. Candidates who have obtained their doctoral degree prior to that may however also be considered if special grounds exist (leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical duties, an elected position in a trade union, or other similar circumstances).

Assessment criteria
General assessment criteria include good interpersonal skills and an ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the duties well. The ideal candidate for this position must have a solid theoretical background in robotics, computer vision, and perception. In particular, experience in designing and implementing systems for registration, mapping, or object detection / recognition is a requirement. Excellent programming skills and knowledge of C++ and ROS would be considered an advantage, as will experience in machine learning (especially if applied to perception), and prior experience in collaborative projects.

Equality
Our ambition is to create a place of work that is characterised by gender equality and diversity.

Information
The position is a full-time position for a fixed term of two years. The salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.
