at Department of Psychology. Closing date: 28 February 2020.

The Department of Psychology is a diverse and creative workplace for education and research in Psychology. Each semester, over 1000 students are enrolled in our courses that range from introductory level to advanced graduate level.

Project description
The position is funded by the project "A resource-rational theory of visual working memory limitations". The central hypothesis behind the project is that resource allocation in visual working memory is guided by rational principles (see Van den Berg & Ma, 2018, eLife). The postdoctoral fellow will be mainly involved in further developing this theory and testing its predictions using psychophysical methods and computational modelling.

Main responsibilities
The main responsibilities include: conceptualization and implementation of psychophysical experiments; performing statistical analysis and computational modelling; preparing and revising manuscripts.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.

In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills. Qualified applicants hold a PhD in Psychology or a related field such as Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Computer Science. Applicants should have a competitive research publication track record. Of particular importance is documented experience in advanced statistical analyses of behavioural data (preferably within the area of perception or cognition) and programming/scripting experience (e.g., Matlab, Python, R). Previous experience with computational modelling is a merit. The person should have good social skills, be committed to their work, and be able to work independently.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date as soon as possible or as per agreement.
