At the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering our students are studying to be for example innovators, entrepreneurs, illustrators, information designers, network technicians and engineers. We have five research specializations with different research profiles and research schools. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

Position description
The purpose of the position is to give the employee an early opportunity to develop his or her independence as a researcher and to create the conditions for further acquisitions of qualifications after completing the doctoral degree. The position is a temporary employment of maximum 2 years.

In this position you will work in the MATISSE project. The project is based on close collaboration between the university and industry and aims to optimize processes, reduce error margins and increase productivity in the industrial companies involved in the project. Virtual models of real systems, so-called digital twins, are at the heart of the project. The project works with real examples from companies to develop and test innovative solutions.

As a postdoc, you will be a senior member of the MATISSE project and will engage in various research activities, both independently and in collaboration with national and European partners. Responsibilities include high-profile research, PhD supervision, attending project meetings, presenting research results at conferences and workshops, and managing milestones and deliverables linked to MATISSE.

Qualifications requirements
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in Software Engineering with a focus on Model-Driven Engineering and AI. The applicant must have completed the degree no more than three years before the end of the application period. You have not previously held a position as a postdoctoral researcher in the same or related subject area at MDU that exceeds one year.

You are also required to have:

• Demonstrated proficiency in both written and spoken English, achieving a C2 level according to The Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).
• Proven ability to initiate and conduct high-quality research resulting in publications in reputable conferences and journals in relevant fields.
• Proven ability to conduct high-quality research within European collaborative projects.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Large Language Model (LLM) and their use in Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) and software architecture
• Demonstrated proficiency in MDE, including expertise in modeling, meta-modeling, model transformations, and familiarity with associated technologies.
• Demonstrated programming proficiency in languages such as Java and Python, along with experience in various development environments.
• Knowledge of participating in collaborative research projects, demonstrating the ability to work effectively within research teams.
• Basic understanding of digital twins, encompassing their concepts, applications, and relevance in modern technology and research.

Assesment criteria
The following skills and experiences are an advantage:

• Experience with model-driven engineering and AI techniques and tools, including familiarity with modeling languages, transformations and platforms such as Eclipse, applied to Digital Twin systems.
• Knowledge of European research projects.
• Familiarity with teaching.
