hela Sverige The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Pipe Design Engineer within the Engineering and Integration Support division (EIS division).
Description of division
The Engineering & Integration Support (EIS) Division provides the skills, tools and resources needed for the process of designing, building and maintaining the ESS facility and machinery. The division works cross-functionally through the ESS organisation and provides service to different ESS projects.
Job description and responsibilities
The candidate will be a part of the EIS Division and focus on the following tasks:
• Support the projects in the piping design activities, including drawing P&ID's and 3D modelling
• Take part in development content, methods and templates within plant and process design, such as isometric drawings, pipe specifications and P&ID's
• Support the standardization activities for the definition of engineering best practises and components
• Support the collection of requirements for the design of e.g. cooling water systems
• Writing technical specifications, performing market surveys and price enquiries to find appropriate suppliers
• Assist in evaluation of technical tenders when procuring technical systems or components
• Take part in the development, implementation and maintenance of engineering processes related to the Plant & Process field
• Review proposed designs and other documents performed by the Section and external collaborators
• Other related engineering activities from requirements to installation
The design work shall be performed in a Plant Design Tool. Project /design activities are planned and led by work unit leaders and lead design engineers, representing different project teams. Internal development of methods and tools are managed by the Section coordinator for Plant & Process. Knowledge and experience in AVEVA E3D (PDMS) tool is preferential.
Required qualifications
• Education in Mechanical Engineering
• At least 3 years of piping design work within the industry or within scientific projects
• Very good experience from using Plant Design Tool for plant and piping design
• Experiences from Process Industry, such as e.g. Oil & Gas industry, are preferable
• Very good experience in producing and configuring piping and component specifications
• Experience in work with governing documents such as procedures and guidelines is beneficial
• Good knowledge in relevant design codes, norms and standards
• Experience from work in PLM/PDM-tools/systems
• Experience of maintenance and operation activities is a plus
• Excellent oral and written English.
• Strong problem solving, analytical methods and technical skills
• Ability to work effectively in and with team(s)
• Ability to identify and resolve complex problems/issues and has good judgement
• Able to work in an international, dynamic and changing environment

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
