Sandvik Coromant, in collaboration with VINN Excellence Center at Luleå Technical University, is offering a position for an industrial PhD candidate at Faste Laboratory - Centre for Functional Product Innovation. The research center is supported by the Vinnova Foundation. The location for this position is based in Sandviken but initially in Luleå.
Key performance areas
As a PhD candidate employed in industry, you have the opportunity to develop research skills in cooperation with academic research networks and also to apply developed knowledge and methods directly in real engineering projects. At the company, you will be part of cross-functional teams involving colleagues from different knowledge areas. The work also includes contacts and collaborations with both internal and external networks, universities and customers.
Within the field of PLM, CAD/CAM/CAE the need for support and building up knowledge in the product development process is increasing. You will work with information exchange and systems for design automation. Furthermore, development and integration of knowledge platforms are natural parts of the research activities. Your main activities at the company will be related to the:
• Development and establishment of methods for the reuse of knowledge in product development
• Support of product development project teams by utilizing design automation
Your profile
We welcome individuals with MSc. degrees in related fields. Knowledge in the fields of PLM, CAD/CAM/CAE design and design methods is considered as an additional qualification. An affinity for product development and systems for reuse of knowledge is important for this position. For this position you must have, or be able to develop, a profound interest in product development and be pro-active, self-motivated and computer literate. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential.
