Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program
Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program (NNTP) is a unique opportunity for young talents. The program will give extensive skills and training for young nuclear professionals who are in the early stage of their career, and it will also offer a great possibility to build networks among nuclear professionals in the Nordic countries. Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program is the kickstart of your career within Vattenfall. You are being offered a permanent employment and on top of that you will have the opportunity to develop your professional and personal skills over the course of 15 months. In the Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program you will take part in workshops and site visits during the seminar weeks. Between the seminar weeks, work rotations and project assignment, you will work with your colleagues in a regular position in the organization. Each position comes with a competitive salary and an excellent remuneration package.
Every trainee position is linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities and challenges and matching profile.
Your responsibilities as a Nuclear Safety Analysis Engineer
You will be part of the Safety Analysis group in the department Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel with responsibility to perform analyses related to the nuclear safety of Vattenfall's plants using a set of computer software, physical correlations and calculation methods combined with good understanding of numerical simulations and physics. The group is also involved in Vattenfall 's recent efforts to reduce the use of fossil fuel, such as hydrogen production and new nuclear reactor concepts.
Your first challenge in our group will be to simulate a nuclear accident and compare results to a large scale test. This will give you an understanding of the code, modelling, validation, uncertainty and other aspects that are key factors in safety analysis and will help you on your journey. After this, we will decide your continues development together based on your skills and preferences with an aim towards specialist or technical leader within safety analysis.
Your profile
Whether you want a climate smarter career as a specialist, visionary manager or inspirational project lead in the nuclear industry, we offer you these possibilities within the Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program. We are looking for recent graduates holding a Master 's Degree of Science in Engineering Physics, Energy Systems, Mechanical Engineering or similar, with a maximum of 2 years' work experience from the nuclear industry. You are fluent in Swedish and English. Furthermore, you are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization. Of course you identify yourself with our principles: active, open, positive and safe.
You recognize yourself in the following qualifications:
• Creative mindset, natural curiosity and desire to develop your skills further and gain applied engineering experience in a technical team like ours
• Analytical skills and interest in numerical simulations, fluid dynamics and applied physics
• Enjoy working together in groups to solve technical problems combined with own individual analytical work
Location
The base location of this role is the Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel department in Solna.
