SKF Group MDC (Manufacturing Development Centre), belonging of 50 employees of various nationalities, has a responsibility for developing new manufacturing processes and equipment for ultimate use in SKF factories distributed worldwide. Accordingly MDC endeavors to keep informed on all new technology developments and how they can be applied to improve production efficiency, quality and performance of SKF products.
MDC is formed of 4 departments; Forming, Heat treatment, Machining and ICT & Systems. To further on strengthen ICT & Systems.
We are now looking for a
Mechanical designer
As mechanical designer you are responsible to develop and visualize new machine concepts in cooperation with different SKF specialists. The concepts can vary from new subsystems in existing machines or complete manufacturing system. The focus is often system with a high degree of automation and the newest technology. As robotics is an area that is foreseen to increase in the manufacturing concepts, you should have knowledge about their capabilities.
The role includes contacts with component supplier and to be updated on the new technology. You should be able to do cost calculation of the designs and be part of the testing of new concepts / prototypes.
Job responsibilities:
• Drive technical development for new functions and machine concepts including 3D models, drawings and production documents
• Do cost calculation of designs
• Participating in testing of new concepts/prototypes
• Create relationships with Technology, Product and Manufacturing
• To take an active role in innovation & creativity in line with overall strategy
• To be updated on trends related to manufacturing systems
• Occasionally support MDC design needs in general
Job Requirements :
• Msc mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years of experience of machine development with 3D software, preferable Creo Parametric
• Experience of production system with robotics
• Experience with visualization/animation software is a plus
• Good knowledge of different material and their behaviors in machines
• Good understanding of the general demands for a high volume production machine
Personal profile:
• Broad technical understanding, interest and hands on mechanical skills
• Innovative with a high level of own drive and commitment
• Good communication skills
• Fluent in English, both verbal and in writing
• Experience from working with customer relations is an advantage
• Good skills in creating good relationships
• Willing and able to travel occasionally
