Master thesis:
Develop an improved test environment for that permits early tests in a simulated environment
Goal
The objective for this Master Thesis is to develop an improved test environment for that permits early tests in a simulated environment.
Expected results from simulated environment should be close to what we later can verify in vehicle prototypes and mules.
Area
Our Teams core business is to develop Control systems for Thermal applications in electrical vehicles. Our Team develops the control algorithms for Compartment, High Voltage Battery and Electric driveline climatization.
Mission
Development of Thermal control software requires either a full system or accurate models. A full system is often not available until late stages of project with limited availability. System models offer early access to possibilities of controller tuning and other behavior. NEVS currently use replicas of HW with step motors etc. to represent hardware in final product that enables certain debug options. However, without feedback from a system model controllers act upon static values resulting unpredictable and irrelevant ways. System models can be used to test SW early in project but is not all covering.
By creating a test-harness that allows digital read/write of ECU IOs, it is possible to simulate a system towards the ECU HW. Through these IO:s it would be possible to stimulate all possible values and situations and verify correct behavior. If the test-harness can use the already in place system model it would enable simulation of complete system.
It should be possible to use existing development boards as a starting point for HW. To be implemented in SW is then:
o IO Control/Read from PC
- CAN
- LIN
- GPIO
o System model behavior directly from test HW or PC
Required competences / Education
The applicant shall have knowledge of embedded software development in C/C++. The basic Simulation environment we use today is written in C#, but other software platforms can be used for this thesis work.
The applicant shall have interest in Software Testing and test environment to solve this task.
About us
The world is in need of change - and NEVS want to be part of driving it and at the same time shape the lives of generations to come. That's why we focus on designing premium electric vehicles and smart mobility solutions that prove that what's best for one, can be what's best for all.
Electrification, connected vehicles, new ownership models and autonomous driving are just some of the important components that are transforming our industry. At NEVS, we are way pavers, change makers and solution finders. For us, the future is bright and mobility is clean. We see that every individual has a part to play, so together with our partners and people like you, we are shaping mobility for a more sustainable future.
