Commodity Body Structure is a section within Manufacturing Engineering. We develop and implement quality assured, flexible and effective production systems in the Body in White plants. The section is divided into three groups, Underbody, Upperbody & Hang on Parts. The three groups are working cross functionally & project oriented, supporting all Volvo Car Group Plants and Projects globally. Within Upperbody, we are now looking for a new member working as a Manufacturing Engineer.
As a Manufacturing Engineer - Body in White you will be working during the complete Car program, from early phase to implementation in the plant. You will be a part of a commodity Engineering team and you will contribute to prepare and implement product and manufacturing processes, manual and automated. You will ensure product and process feedback within Manufacturing Engineering organisation, to Production and to Research & Development in order to fulfil the manufacturing attributes (quality, man hours, cost efficiency, environment, flexibility, and change over). Main responsibilities
• Deliver a product- and process solution according to manufacturing requirements
• Work cross functionally with several interfaces within Volvo Car Group to enable simultaneously design feedback to R&D
• Lead and coordinate manufacturing process activities within R&D design responsibility area
• Lead virtual and physical verification in order to secure manufacturing requirements
• Develop efficient man-hour layout and ergonomic work methods
• Plan in detail, specify functions and needs for equipment in cooperation with Tooling
• Identify needs of new error proofing and quality assurance systems or update existing by initiate and perform process FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
• Examining and tendering for new equipment to ensure the right quality
• Verify and secure manufacturing attributes fulfilment according to verification need plan in all virtual and physical phases
• Perform Digital Pre Assembly status (DPA5) within own area
• Create or update needed process, quality and inspection instructions for production
Required qualifications
• M.Sc. in Production or Mechanical Engineering or corresponding professional experience
• Good practical and theoretical knowledge about development of new manual or automatic manufacturing systems
• Experience and knowledge about working with 3D manufacturing IT tools
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Driver's licence B
• Knowledge in Teamcenter or Process Design is meritorious
