Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide strategic legal counsel and uphold the highest standards of integrity within ABB. Each day, you will ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. You will also showcase your expertise by effectively managing legal risks and fostering a culture of integrity across the organization. You'll offer legal and integrity-related advice to ABB management, acting as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders. This will include reviewing and negotiating contracts, drafting commercial agreements, and overseeing contract management in collaboration with relevant business stakeholders and Legal & Integrity (L&I) team members.
You will work in close collaboration with the existing counsel for Process Automation Sweden but will also be part of the global ABB Legal & Integrity team, with colleagues in various jurisdictions.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Monitoring legal affairs, including but not limited to litigations and activity reports and occupying a seat at the table on local strategic business matters.
Ensuring good corporate governance (including structuring, drafting, and negotiation) in your area of accountability within the country, with respect to Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) / divestiture transactions.
Counsel management and business teams on legal risks associated with their strategies, plans, or decisions, and provide guidance on the business impact of legal changes.
Anticipate future business and legal challenges, developing appropriate strategies to address them.
Oversee Intellectual Property (IP) matters, working with stakeholders from the IP function to manage these issues effectively.
Proactively identify risks, external threats, and opportunities, proposing suitable strategies for the company.
Qualifications for the role
Swedish law degree with 2-5 years of legal experience, preferably in a well-recognized law firm or as in-house counsel at a multinational company
Proven ability to provide cross-border legal support, with experience working in multiple jurisdictions
Strong business acumen with a solutions-oriented mindset and a collaborative attitude
Experience in process improvement and optimization within a legal context, with a focus on executional excellence
Fluency in English and Swedish, coupled with strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Industry experience in mining, battery manufacturing, pulp and paper, or automation is a plus
