Ericsson Research (ER) is strengthening its research on device-related technologies and is building a new organization for this. Because of this we are looking to recruit innovative, technically curious researchers to develop cutting edge software and hardware solutions in the device segment.

Job Description
Ericsson is recruiting researchers for the new unit "Device Baseband Technology Research" based in Lund, Sweden. The unit is part of the device related research in ER with the charter to create novel concepts and technologies, do proof-of-concept prototyping, be a strategic eco-system influencer, serve as a pool of expertise supporting strategy, business and standardization functions within the Ericsson group, and create strategically important intellectual property.
The work involves a great degree of freedom and expectations are high on the ability to build expertise knowledge and generate innovative output.
The device modem is the functionalities and subsystems involved in the (cellular) communication of the device. Device modem baseband in this context concerns the layer 1-3 functionalities implemented in the digital domain, either as ASIC or software, and does not include the antenna or analog RF.
You are expected to have in-depth competence as well as experience from at least some of the following technology areas related to device modems:
• Layer 1-3 functionality for cellular 4G or 5G devices, e.g. smartphones or IoT devices
• Device modem system architecture
• Definition, systemization, and development of digital ASICs
• Multiprocessor architectures and systems for energy efficient SoCs
• Algorithm and Signal processing ASIC or FPGA design
• Digital processing related to MIMO and Beamforming
• Power management
• System modeling
• Exploration of system optimizations
• Prototyping or development of proof-of-concepts
Device implementation research in ER is organized as a cross-disciplinary program spanning multiple units and geographical locations. This means that the work involves collaboration with other units within ER. The work may also involve external collaborations with e.g. universities and partner companies.

Mandatory qualifications
• In-depth competence in one or several of the disciplines listed above
• Ph.D. or M.Sc. with significant experience from research and/or innovative product development
• Fluent in verbal and written English
• Highly developed communications skills
• Technical curiosity and willingness to try new things and methods
• Innovation track record, patent creation, and/or scientific publication of novel ideas
Preferred qualifications
• Experience from mobile device industry
• Experience from working in cross-cultural and multi-site organizations
