As a Software Application Engineer you will be part of many aspects of development and implementation of software functions. You and the team will understand the legal and customer requirements, and will design robust software solutions. The work involves the entire chain; from early concept development to maintaining our functionality in our production fleet. A working day can be both software development in front of the computer, as well as driving a truck, testing your developed functionality!

Our group, EATS control (Exhaust AfterTreatment System), is a department within Powertrain Engineering. We are responsible for all the software functions in the aftertreatment system. We deliver solutions for all of Volvo Group's products around the world.

We work in teams of 5-7 colleagues with complementary skills committed to a common purpose. Every team plan their work in 3 week sprints and deliver solutions together as a team. We mostly use the graphical programing tool Matlab, Simulink/Targetlink, but knowledge in C programming is useful to improve our software architecture and testing framework.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Design, implement and verify EATS control strategies in software using Targetlink (with an emphasis on the reduction system such as urea dosing, NOx-reduction)
Participate in system engineering work supporting the EATS product
Analyze, provide feedback and develop procedures and processes, e.g. for automated and manual verification tests or for software function development

Who are you?
To be successful in this position you need to be a team player and a problem solver. You are communicative, have very good technical skills and are curious about learning new things. As a person we believe that you have a result oriented mindset, which will help you to take on new work assignments in a successful way.
You either have previous experience from the automotive industry, control strategies development or you are a recent graduate with great attitude and a willingness to learn! Understanding the after-treatment technology is a merit.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be able to take on this challenge successfully we believe that you will possess the following skills and competencies:
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Applied
physics or comparable
Preferably 3 years work experience in relevant field
Preferably experience from controls strategy design and model-based software development
in embedded systems
As a part of a global organization it is important to be fluent in English, both spoken and written
Driver's license (experience of heavy vehicles is a plus).
A creative mind and solution oriented attitude
Structured and a drive to take the lead is an advantage
Experience within automotive industry is desirable but not a must
