We are looking for people who will help us evolve our 3G system in order to keep our market leading position within radio access networks.
Product Development Unit (PDU) WCDMA RAN within Ericsson is the provider of Ericsson's 3G Radio Access Network. Within PDU WCDMA RAN, WCDMA Integration & Verification integrates the WCDMA nodes (RBS (Radio Base Station), RNC (Radio Network Controller) and OSS (Operation and Support System)) into a complete radio access network, verifies the network features and delivers the 3G system to the market.
The 3G has been in commercial use for several years now and there is a tremendously challenging race between all 3G system vendors and operators. Time to market with new features, high product quality with excellent in service performance and high production capacity will be the key success factors sorting out the system providers that will remain in the lead. The resent lunch of a large number of smart phones is putting the 3G system under high load and there is now a high demand on RBS and RNC capacity to handle all the traffic.
In the WCDMA I&V Traffic department we integrate and verify RBS, RNC and RAN traffic WCDMA features (in simulated and real node environment).
We also, together with other involved Development Units, integrate and verify end-to-end WCDMA/UMTS features and solutions. Furthermore we are involved in on-site FOA, PLM and Roll Out activities when launching new system releases and features.
Job description
The WCDMA I&V Traffic department are looking for a tester/trouble shooter within the area of WCDMA RBS Traffic Feature Integration and Verification.
As a tester in the RBS traffic area you are assigned one or more traffic features and are responsible for the integration and feature verification of these features.
You will have the opportunity to participate in on-site FOA activities in our FOA customer networks worldwide.
The job contains the following activities and responsibilities:
• Perform test analysis and define test scope and tools impact of new features
• Write Verification Specifications
• Be a point of contact for your assigned features so that you can share your knowledge
• Execute test cases and trouble shoot found problems in WRBS nodes
• Automation of executed tests
Qualifications
You are willing to ensure that technical solutions are simple, reliable and cost effective and enjoy finding risks of product quality. You are glad to work with customer and can provide technical solutions based on customer's requirement. You are self-motivated, have a good team work spirit, with the drive to solve problems and expand your knowledge.
• Technical education on university level preferably in electrical engineering, computer science, communications or similar
• Good knowledge of wireless communication system. Preferably WCDMA
• Fluent in both written and spoken English
Some specific preferred competence areas:
• General Radio access transport network knowledge
• Good TCP/IP and general IP networks knowledge
• Good in UNIX, SQL, XML, JAVA, PERL, Python etc
