The overall purpose of this role is to provide technology strategy and leadership of all technology functions within Important Looking Pirates (ILP).
- The Head of Technology will work closely with ILP's leadership team to ensure that current and future technology efforts meet the business goals of the company.
- The Head of Technology understands the general technology trends both inside and outside the industry, and ensures that ILP's strategy takes advantage of those changes.
- The Head of Technology will be our chief connection to technology vendors and other technology leaders, and is the public face of ILP for technology related promotion and recruiting.
What you will be doing all day?
As our Head of Technology you will have the overall responsibility for ILP's infrastructure, software and hardware, technology operations, and other important strategic decisions that are crucial to the future of ILP.
You are expected to manage and lead a team to oversee, direct and coordinate the software and pipeline tools and technologies, IT and systems infrastructure, technology operations, as well as security.
The team you will lead works closely with and supports teams of artists, production, and supervisors to deliver world class visual effects. You will work closely with the ILP leadership team to create and implement the overall technology strategy throughout the organization.

Essential Skills
-
Previous leadership experience in a production or deadline driven environment by working as a CTO/Head of Technology or other technology leader in a technology focused company.

A natural skill for seeing connections and problem solving.

You are an excellent communicator and have a methodical and analytical mind.

Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Desirable Skills
-
Extensive hands on experience in either programming, systems administration, or technical operations.

Previous experience of setting up process, pipelines, and workflows.

Experience leading and managing teams of engineers, developers, and technical staff.

Experience creating and implementing strategy.
-
Experience in visual effects, animation, or interactive production is a plus.

Previous experience in computer graphics related areas is a plus.
Key Responsibilities

Direct and oversee the strategy and implementation of all technology to ensure a secure and future proof platform for the company to achieve business goals.

Identify and evaluate technology trends and opportunities that support the company goals.

Proactively identify and assess risks and point of failures.

Ensure efficient use of resources.

Partner with department heads to determine software, hardware and pipeline requirements and recommendations.

Responsible for overseeing research and development.

Play a significant role in long-term planning of the company.
Important Looking Pirates is one of Scandinavia's biggest visual effects studios. Located in the heart of Stockholm we create photorealistic VFX for international TV series and feature films.
ILP was founded by artists in 2007 with the vision to become one of the top international suppliers of VFX. Since our management are artists themselves the focus of the company has always been on the quality of our work. That focus has not only earned us the big productions we are working on today but also international recognition and several of the most prestigious industry awards. We can proudly say that we have assembled one of the best visual effects teams in the business, currently with around 110 talents from all corners of the world.
Our latest projects include films like Star Wars - Rise of Skywalker, Jurassic World - Fallen Kingdom and Aladdin, and TV series like Lost in Space, Watchmen, Game of Thrones and Westworld.
Our headquarters is located in the famous Norstedts building on the islet of Riddarholmen. The office is designed to inspire creativity and to provide the best possible work environment for creating spectacular visual effects. Almost a third of the office consists of social areas where the pirates gather to have lunch and celebratory fikas, get company updates, participate in fussball tournaments, and hang out for Friday beers.
