Are you our next team member who wants to make a difference?

At Volvo Car Group, we are striving to be world leading in Driver Assistance and Active Safety (often also called ADAS - Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and Autonomous Driving (AD), offering customers most comprehensive, convenient and safe ADAS functions as well as being the first to offer truly autonomous (non-supervised) vehicles. Before the new systems can be released, it is required to rigorously verify their operation, in changing and unpredictable traffic situations. Because of complexity of ADAS and AD systems, the test vehicle driving effort becomes prohibitively long and expensive. Instead, virtual testing in Hardware in Loop (HIL) rigs and Software in Loop (SIL) environments must be adopted.

Driver Assistance and Active Safety HIL group supports development of ADAS and AD systems by building and maintaining "AD domain" HIL rigs - that comprise sensor systems, function ECUs, steering and braking electronics and hardware, and models of the rest of the vehicle as well as traffic environment. We assist the development teams in setting up and running the HIL tests, and even implement new test methods. The group today consists of around 25 engineers working in four cross-functional agile teams.

What will you do?

As a Hardware in loop Engineer, you will be a member of the Active Safety HIL team and participate in a broad range of activities:
* Planning, building and running HIL rigs
* Integrating sensors, ECUs and actuators
* Developing and deploying models for rest of vehicle and environment,
* Developing and automation of test cases and supporting test activities.

In addition, you will be collaborating within and outside the team to get the expert knowledge about HIL methods and also about ADAS & AD systems.

Who are you?

We are searching for motivated, curious and skillful individual with strong academic records and documented experience who wants to be engaged in, and provide key contribution to all steps in building HIL rig and developing test methods for autonomous driving vehicles. The challenges are many, among these redundant steering and braking architecture and software, complex AD system architecture with multiple new sensors and new ECU platform, as well as ever growing scope of tests we need to run in HIL. Do you want to take these challenges?

We believe you have below skills:

* M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in Systems, Control & Mechatronics, Signals and Systems, Embedded systems, Software engineering, Applied Mechanics, or similar, with excellent academic record.
* Previous experience of building dSpace-based HIL rigs or similar (e.g. National Instruments or Vector rigs)
* Documented experience or verification of sensors and/or ECUs in automotive domain
* Documented experience of working in Matlab, Simulink and Python
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)

It is meritorious if you bring any of below experiences:

* Experience of real-time simulations, testing of real-time signal processing and distributed systems. Knowledge of working with vehicle or traffic simulation environments
* Good knowledge of vehicle dynamics, brake and steering systems or/and integration of sensor technologies (radar, vision, lidar, ultrasonic)
* Experience of working in HIL rigs (development, maintenance and testing
* Communication networks: CAN, TCP/IP, Flexray etc.

On a personal level

We believe you are a strong team player who is driven and eager to gain new knowledge and skill sets.

You have strong communication skills and have a willingness to actively participate in the team's common matters. You make sure to deliver on time and with quality.

Does this sound like you? Then do not hesitate to apply!
