Many of the functions in the HVDC MACH control system are implemented in FPGAs. As a FPGA Design Engineer you will work on complex functions where high performance, availability and robustness are key elements. Example designs are proprietary high speed optical communication protocols, high-speed buses, EtherCAT, data collection, filters and functions for HVDC control and protection.

We work in a modern environment where both rapid prototyping and productification takes place. To our help we have modern tools and labs for the complete development cycle, from early prototype testing to final system verification.

You have a deep understanding of digital electronic design and FPGAs or ASICs. Hopefully you have already obtained a wide knowledge within the area from a university education or relevant work experience, as well as experience from professional development processes and electronics production. You are equally familiar with theoretical as well as practical tasks and are used to working with requirements and design specifications.

The successful candidate has:
• Deep knowledge in VHDL or Verilog.
• Deep knowledge in FPGA-architectures (Xilinx, Altera, Lattice or MicroSemi)
• Good knowledge in HDL simulation tools, for instance ModelSim
• Experience from lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers etc,
• Experience from working in agile projects, such as SCRUM.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

You will be part of HVDC within the Power Grids division in Ludvika. The HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is used to transmit power over long distances with minimal losses, using overhead lines, underground and submarine cable systems.
