hela Sverige The BU Surface Chemistry is responsible for the development, manufacturing, and marketing of surfactants and polymers for dynamic market segments, such as Agro, Mining, Oil field, Fuels & Lubes, Asphalt, Personal Care, and other markets.
The Global R&D group, composed of researchers in North America and Europe, is responsible for successfully delivering the high value, longer term products that will drive the future sales and profitability of the BU Surface Chemistry. The Global R&D EMEIA Manager will lead the European section and ensure that these projects are well-designed, aggressively driven, and efficiently resourced to ensure successful and profitable delivery to the business.
The position is located in Stenungsund, Sweden.
Responsibilities
As Global R&D EMEIA Manager, your responsibilities will include:
• Champion the way to operate a highly effective global and project oriented R&D team and nurture contacts with internal and external counterparts.
• Lead the project teams and identify creative approaches and methods to shorten timelines and deliver projects at a faster rate.
• Ensure a clear and deep understanding of the strategic needs of all market segments within Surface Chemistry.
• Keep up to date with general trends and knowledge within the areas of surfactant and polymer technologies and their use in the segments we operate.
• Attend and present at public conferences and customer meetings to advertise BU Surface Chemistry capabilities, develop long-term customer cooperation, and support our project portfolio.
• Embrace a company-wide cooperation to promote transfer and use of intra AkzoNobel products and technologies across various markets.
• Maintain close contact with business teams and in a constructive way evaluate project proposals to ensure optimal prioritization of projects.
• Act as an internal consultant in developing project incentives and value propositions.
• Evaluate and initiate external opportunities and collaborations to support projects and in accordance with strategy and priority.
• Ensure projects are delivered according to agreed timelines and deliverables.
• Build and maintain a highly knowledgeable, motivated and engaged team and develop team members to deliver on BU strategies and objectives.
Qualifications
We expect applicants to have a PhD in Chemistry or Chemical engineering and at least 5 years? experience in managing cross-functional teams. Preferably the applicant would also have experience in the Agro, Mining, Oil field, Fuels & Lubes and/or Asphalt segments.
To succeed in this role, you should be a creative and strategic minded person with excellent supervisory skills; not afraid to take calculated risks or tackle obstacles. As a leader, you are good at motivating and engaging others, communicating effectively, trusting your employees, and taking an interest in their professional development.
