hela Sverige The Driveline and Hybrids department in Gothenburg is responsible for the development of gearboxes and hybrid systems for trucks and buses within the Volvo Group. The department currently employs about 65 people which are organized in four groups.
The group BF68310 Mechanical Components is responsible for rotating parts (i.e. gears, shafts, synchronizers, bearings etc.) and housings to all in-house transmissions, including both manual SMT and automatic AMT gearboxes. The group consists of more than 20 engineers with different roles, such as system engineers, component engineers, CAE engineers etc.
Task and responsibilities
As global component engineer, you will mainly be working with rotating parts within the following areas:
Gears and shafts
Gearbox lubrication system
Synchronization parts
You will be globally responsible for your assigned components. This includes:
Responsible for component or system development through the product life cycle from early development to maintenance phase
Create, follow-up and participate to the verification plan for your components
Solve any quality issues when needed
Participate in cost reduction workshops and support cost reduction projects within your area
Cooperation with the purchasing department and our suppliers
Secure a long term technical road map for your components or systems and take lead in Advanced Engineering activities within this area
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a M.Sc. degree with 5 years or more of experience in the automotive industry
Good knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, such as mechanics, machine elements and tribology is requested
Experience from 3D modeling and drafting, preferably in Pro/Engineer
Knowledge in Volvo tools and processes is a plus
The candidate needs to be fluent in English, preferably also in Swedish
Good relationship and communication mandatory, analytical mind set, openness to change, team player
Travel:
The position will include occasional travelling within our global organization and to external suppliers.
