hela Sverige Futuraskolan International School of Stockholm is currently seeking a qualified Middle School Science Teacher to start in August 2018
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Plan and teach Middle School and/or High School Science.
• Contribute to implementation and preparation materials of the IMYC curriculum.
• Ensure safe learning environment for students.
• Mentor duties with assigned middle school class.
• Be an active and contributing member of the school's faculty.
• Participate in the full range of professional activities in the school.
• Plan and teach according to the IB DP curricula and make sure that the programme
is aligned with IB criteria.
• Actively contribute to the operational needs of the school.
• Use a wide range of technologies and creative teaching styles.
• Support the individual needs of students within a group.
• Inform students about the requirements of internal assessments and help them
plan their research, papers or Extended Essays.
• Regularly contribute to curriculum planning and development including
interdisciplinary work when possible.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver effective team teaching when possible.
• Develop assessments following IMYC and IB guidelines and use a wide range of
formative assessment tools.
• Attend regular curriculum planning and student progress meetings.
• Keep parents informed about student progress.
• Attend parent meetings.
Mentor responsibilities:
• Keep regular contact with students to evaluate their progress and to help them
overcome their difficulties.
• Inform parents about student progress and make sure that they understand the
IMYC and IB requirements.
• Motivate students to be risk-takers in their learning environment and to strive for
the best.
• Make sure that collaboration happens between students and promote group work.
• Keep the IMYC an IB Coordinator informed about student progress and the
difficulties that might arise.
• Make sure that the students are aware of the learning profile and that our policies
are aligned with the IMYC and IB.
Qualifications, Attributes and Experience of the Middle School/High School Science
Teacher is expected to have:
• Certified teaching credentials
• Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred in Math, Physics, Chemistry, or related
science. Distance learning degrees are not accepted
• 7 years' experience in the classroom
• Solid and demonstrable teaching experience in Math and Science, preferably in the
IB Diploma Program or IMYC
• Creative and enthusiastic approach both in and out of the classroom
• Excellent team player both within the department and across disciplines
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills to work closely with students and
parents
• Proficiency in English
• Experience with working with students or groups
• International teaching experience and/or international curriculum
• The ability to establish rapport with adults and students
• The ability to work effectively in a team
• The ability to show initiative and work independently
• Experience working with students from diverse cultures and countries would be an
advantage
We are recruiting an experienced Physics, and/or Chemistry Teacher to join our team in the IB Diploma Program to teach several sections of integrated science in grades 6-10 in 2018-2019 and take on teaching responsibilities in the IB Diploma Program Chemistry and/or Physics in grades 11-12 beginning in 2019-2020. You must be a fully qualified teacher and should have at least 7 years' post-qualification experience teaching in Upper
School.
