Donor Relations Team, International Department of the Church of Sweden
The Organisational Development and Donor Relations Section is a strategic support function for the International Department of the Church of Sweden. This section is responsible for expert support in strategic management and planning, thematic support to programmes, development of methods and systems as well as increasing funding.
The Funding Advisor position, with a focus on the long term development sector, sits within the Donor Relations team of this section. The purpose of the Donor Relations team is to secure funding for existing or expanding programmes and projects that can be scaled up through new partners and/ or increased geographical outreach.
Job responsibilities
Together with others in the Donor relations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing long-term relationships with new and existing development donors, including EuropeAid and Swedish Embassies. You will represent the Church of Sweden International work in strategic meetings and discussions with donors on funding opportunities, on-going contracts, and frame agreements.
In addition, you will contribute to the fund development process with the Regional section, networking with donors, coordinating funding proposals within the Church of Sweden, and supporting effective grant reporting to donors. You will contribute to the objectives and goals of the Donor Relations team in order to maximise funding generated from donors for the Church of Sweden and our partners. Duties also include proving support and quality assuring proposals and reports submitted to donors. Together with the Donor Relations Financial Controller, you will ensure that all relevant staff are informed of the donors' requirements, rules and procedures and ensure that the Church of Sweden complies with donor requirements.
Qualifications
• University education in relevant field, for example economics, international development studies and/or international relations.
• Experience in working with long-term development projects is a requirement and experience in working with humanitarian projects is an asset.
• Completed courses related to institutional funding, for example EuropeAid, Sida etc. is merited.
• Proven track record of working with institutional donors, preferably in the development sector. This includes working with funding proposals, reporting management and donor compliance, including an understanding of programmatic budgeting.
Additional skills and experiences
• Effective networking and negotiating skills and an ability to work against funding targets.
• A good understanding of planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting (PMER) systems and intervention logic.
• Knowledge of the quality and accountability and/or the human rights based approach is an asset.
• Understanding the roll of the Church and the ecumenical movement (LWF and the ACT Alliance) in development sector is an asset.
• Experience in working in the international development sector a requirement.
• Excellent spoken and written English, Swedish and Spanish are a requirement, and French and other language skills are an asset.
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office package.
