The section Strategy and Concept within the department Complete Powertrain Engineering (CPE) is responsible for developing concepts and system solutions for propulsion systems including hybrid systems in Volvo Car Group vehicles. The section consists of about 20 individuals working with systems engineering, concept development, advanced engineering projects and CAE simulations.
Function Owner - Vehicle Energy Coordinator (VEC) aims to control which sources of propulsion (ICE or electric) and loads that shall be engaged at each moment of driving the vehicle in order to minimize environmental impact and fuel consumption. Input to VEC comes from the driver's actual order, from autonomous drive systems and from diverse other energy requesting units. It shall also consider route and destination. Input will come from continuously updated data about the specific driver's frequent routes and destinations as well as online data about actual traffic situation along the planned or assumed route. Possibilities to develop the power of this function are endless. We are offering you a possibility to develop yourself and your skills. Main responsibilities
• Develop and maintain customer functionality through competitor benchmark, customer feedback and innovations
• Create functional requirements that support a realisation across required vehicle nodes
• Apply good knowledge about energy consumption, generation and conservation
• Initiate or set up simulations necessary to find best possible overall function
• Implement your ideas in a vehicle and test feasibility or conduct simulations
• Functionality will be anchored in the development plan through function strategy documentation, which will be created, structured and maintained by you
Required qualifications
• University degree on PhD or MSc level within Electrical and Electronics/Mechatronics/Applied Physics or similar
• 3-5 years working experience within relevant field
• Knowledge within energy management is meritorious
• Experience from Electrical/SW/function development and or testing within automotive development is meritorious
• Experience of working as Function owner is meritorious
• Experience from HMI interaction is meritorious
• Drivers license (B)
• Fluent in English, written and spoken

• Methodical, well organised and structured
• Good communication skills
• Curious and driven
• Ability to work independent but also enjoy being a part of a development team
• Appreciates the possibilities to work in mixed teams with different backgrounds
