Engine control is now looking for people who want to contribute to improving our cars' environmental impact and driving experience. We work with mechanics, electronics, controls, chemistry, fluid dynamics, modelling, simulation and software. With us, you will have great opportunities in specialization and personal development. Right now, we are in an exciting phase of development and to further develop diesel and gasoline engines. We also face the challenge to develop electric motors, hybrids and engines that run on more environmentally friendly fuels. We work alternating with cars, engines in test rigs as well at the office with computers. Moreover, we also develop most of the control software ourselves. We are now looking for motivated Function Developers to support our team. As a Function Developer you will be responsible to develop engine control functions for the next generation Volvo engines. The functions are created in Simulink and should control the fuel injections, turbo chargers, exhaust gas recirculation, oil and coolant flow etc. To verify and develop the control functions the work will also include some tests in engine dynamometer, chassis dynamometer and drivability in vehicle. Also unit testing of the models is done. You will work in close collaboration with engineers from engine design, engine control calibration and diagnostics. The work may require some travel to external vehicle test conditions.
Main responsibilities
* Develop control functions for engine projects, to meet emission and CO2 requirements and deliver optimal performance
* Test and verify the functions, both in simulations and in engine or vehicle tests
* Document the functions and review them together with others
Required qualifications
* University degree in engineering or long time engineering experience
* Experience from development of model based control systems
* Experience from engine control or engine concept development is meritorious
* Good knowledge of English, spoken and written
* Driver's license B
* Experience from software development, embedded systems in particular is meritorious
* Experience from the software tools Matlab/Python, Simulink and INCA is meritorious
