Four undergraduate programs (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, audiology and speech therapy) are available within the section. The Physiotherapy program provides education at bachelor's, master 's and doctoral levels. The program has a creative research environment with a vision to develop it further, and has currently 14 registered doctoral students. The aim is to further strengthen our scientific and pedagogic environment in the subject of physiotherapy.

Subject area description
Physiotherapy is an academic subject that comprises the knowledge of a human person as a physical, psychological, social and existential entity in a perspective of health. In the centrum of knowledge is understanding of and studies on body, movement, function, and interaction with others as well as with the environment, and the awareness of how body, movement, habits and life patterns influence the health.
Job assignments
The succesfull candidate of the position is expected to have an overall responsibility of research and education in the subject of physiotherapy. The position involves teaching at bachelor 's, master 's and doctoral level.
Administrative work is included and leadership tasks within in the institution may be involved in the position. The candidate is expected to take an active role in leading and developing creative research environment for scientists and PhD- students as well as to inform and support researchers to apply for research grants.
Additional the candidate is expected to follow and lead development in the subject of physiotherapy, to lead a research group with focus on the subject of physiotherapy and to collaborate with national and international research groups.
Eligibility
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
The applicant has to be a registered physiotherapist, show scientific and pedagogic skills, clinical skills as a physiotherapist and to have experience of leading academic research and education in the subject of physiotherapy.
Assessment
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
The first assessment criterion is equally demonstrated scientific and pedagogic skills in the subject of physiotherapy:
• Ability to lead and conduct research on a high international and national level,
• Ability to support and lead research coworkers and to supervise doctoral students.
• To show good pedagogic skills on the bachelor's, master 's and doctoral level.
• To show good clinical experience as a physiotherapist
• Ability to consociate and interact with the society
Employment
The employment is a full time permanent position and is located at The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology.
Appointment procedure
• Competence review of the applicant's documents after the closing date
• Applicants' documents are sent to external experts for assessment
• The recruitment will be dealt with in The Academic Appointments Board of Sahlgrenska Academy
• The Academic Appointments Board proposes candidates
• Assessment and recognition of qualifications in teaching and learning in higher education of the proposed candidate's
• The recruitment is handled by the Vice-Chancellor for a decision
