The International School of the Stockholm Region is a publically funded international school which exists primarily to serve the educational needs of the transient and/or international community of Stockholm. The school runs the International Baccalaureate's curricula. The Primary Years Program (PYP) is offered to students from 5-11 years of age and the Middle Years Program (MYP) is offered to students from 11-16 and the Diploma Program (DP) is available for students from 16-19 year of age. The schools language of instruction is English for all subjects. Thus at ISSR students can receive an internationally-recognized education in English from 5 to 19 years of age in one location in the center of Stockholm
1 plats(er).ISSR will need an After School Care staff/ class assistant who will work with an English speaking student body and participate in a dynamic and caring environment both during and after school hours. The position is 80%.
After School Care leader:
The ASC leader (fritidsledare) should have a background/experience working in an ASC format and hold some sort of physical or creative area, which can contribute to the ASC program. In addition, they should have experience organizing/planning activities to enrich the afterschool hours for young children. This can include arts and crafts, swimming, theater, languages, sewing, hiking and camping, outdoor education, etc. We will be working with the Primary Years Programme curriculum (
www.ibo.org ) so experience or interest in working with an international curriculum is also desirable.
Class assistant:
The class assistant should have experience working in a classroom environment as lead or assistant teacher to small children (5-11 years of age). Experience working with children and the empathy and patience to help children solve both academic and social obstacles is essential. The classes will often be broken in to small groups of which the class assistant will often work actively in the classroom to plan and carry out the varied instructional levels of the classroom. A willingness and interest in planning alongside the classroom teacher is essential.
Responsibilities:
• Maintaining ongoing parent/school communication regarding students development
• Planning/documenting high quality activities in the ASC programme
• Participate and contribute to the planning of lessons with the lead teacher(s)
• Participating in school activities (assemblies, evening events, conferences, etc.)
• Supervising children during breaks
• substitutions
• Continued professional development
Qualifications:
A qualified candidate will be:
• experience working with children in a school setting
• Higher education related to the work
• International study or work experience
• High level of communication skills (parents, teacher team, students)
• Native or fluent in English
Anställningsform: Tidsbegränsad.
