hela Sverige We are looking for a field assistant to help on an extensive field campaign during the coming summer. The aim of the project is to better understand greenhouse gases dynamics and how they are affected by microbes. The assistant will assist a PhD student to sample lakes in Uppsala County. The work includes participating on the field campaign and preparation and sample processing before and after campaigns. The position is located at the Department of Forest mycology and Plant pathology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Uppsala, Sweden).
The Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology offers a stimulating research environment focusing on fundamental and applied aspects of fungal, bacterial and plant biology. Important research topics at the department include interactions between microorganisms and their environment as well as ecology and evolution. Central themes are biodiversity, nutrient cycling and plant pathology in agricultural and forest ecosystems.
Duties:
We seek a field assistant to help prepare the sampling material, and go on the field to collect samples and data. This will include driving, carrying material, performing measurements and logging in data.
Qualification:
The candidate should hold a bachelor degree in environmental science, biology or related field. We are looking for someone ready to work in challenging outdoor condition. Therefor experiences in outdoors and field work will be regarded as assets. The candidate is expected to be able to work independently and under supervision.
Candidate must be fluent in English and have a valid driving licence.
