This position is based in Uppsala, where Thermo Fisher develops, manufactures, and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. With 1,900 employees worldwide working with these products, and 1,000 in Sweden, we are the global leader in in-vitro allergy testing and the European leader in autoimmunity diagnostics.
The Team
The Instrument & Consumables group, part of System R&D department with approximately 120 staff members, has a great opportunity for a Electronics Engineer. The team is driving expertise in the area of mechanical, electronics and embedded software engineering of development and product care activities for instruments and consumables for diagnostical use. To facilitate design process, we have a mechanical & electronics workshop, including equipment such as 3D printers and machinery for cutting, milling and forming processing, at site. The team consists of 17 employees and contingent workers, an innovative multi-disciplinary team with good collaboration, helping each other crafting great products.
In scope of operations is design responsibility of the PhadiaTM 200 system, a fully automated benchtop instrument including software capable of diagnostic testing menu of +500 different tests. The instrument is crafted to handle processing of samples, reagents and calculation of analytical results from the measurement values. PhadiaTM 200 is intended to be used in clinical laboratories.

The Job
As an Electronics Engineer, in our team, you will work with the entire chain of development in projects from the concept phase through requirements and design and into the final testing and product & process care of existing instruments. You will also initiate development work that ensures that the designs are driven by meeting the current and future needs of our customers and requirements from regulatory authorities. In the role you will acquire a deep understanding of how the product works and how the components interact.
You will be involved in many technical areas and become a member of a multi-functional team where a collaborative approach is a key for success.
In the role as Electronics Engineer,, you will be responsible for the development of electronic systems and components in various applications and purpose. The systems also contain finished components such as pumps, tubes and motors. You will work with specification, design and testing of electronic components and modules throughout the product life cycle from new products to solving and improvement of existing products.
In practice, your role may include:
Developing of electronics and control systems for instrument products.
Product & Process care of existing instruments.
Leading of electronic design activities for new product development and product care activities within R&D.
Collaborate with system, mechanical and software engineers to ensure that electronics and control system together with other functions fulfill requirements.
Lead and contribute to technical investigations and improvement activities.
Testing of prototype versions of electronic components, modules and systems.
Transfer document for electronics and steering systems to production.
Ensure that production- and test methods enable products of high quality.
Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements related to product development and design.
Experience and Qualifications:
University degree within Electronics Engineering, or another relevant technical subject.
Product development experience, preferably within the regulated industry.
Experience from complex products that preferably contained hardware, electronics, software and robotic.
Previous experience of leading design related activities
Ability to speak and write in Swedish and English at a professional level.
Ability of working independently, taking ownership for the management of processes, projects and timelines.
Skilled to work across departments, in a matrix organization.
Excellent communication and influencing skills.
