Saab's operations cover a large geographical area and many high-technology products and services. This gives you as employee unique opportunities to develop and grow within the group. We are also aware of the fact that all of us have a life outside the workplace and here at Saab we have a positive attitude to every individual's need for balance in life. We are proud of being a company of choice; something that all our employees contribute to.
Saab serves the global market with world-leading products, services and solutions ranging from military defence to civil security. Saab has operations and employees on all continents and constantly develops, adopts and improves new technology to meet customers' changing needs. Saab has about 12,000 employees. Annual sales are EUR 2,5 billion. Research and development corresponds to about 20 percent of annual sales.
Your workplace
Dynamics, a business area of Saab, offers ground combat weapons, missile systems, torpedoes, sensor systems, unmanned underwater vehicles and signature management systems for armed forces as well as remotely operated vehicles and security systems for the offshore industry and nuclear power plants.
The department for Electronics and software consists of six sections in two locations, Linköping and Karlskoga. This position is situated in one of our electronics sections in Karlskoga.
At the electronics section in Karlskoga, we develop hardware for missile systems, both for the ground system and for the missile. This places strict demands on reliability, user resistance and modular thinking as we set tough standards for high reliability in harsh environments. The section is responsible for providing technology and expertise in areas such as:
• Requirement analysis
• Design of electronic systems and appliances
• Design of programmable circuits
• Proximity fuzes (laser and magnet)
• Fuze electronics
• LED beam systems
• Safety-critical electronics
• PCB layouts
We have an integrated approach with other parts of the company throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Your role
You will work with electronic design in a broad area. In particular, we expect you to understand electronic designs using opto components and the design of analogue electronics. Several of our products contain designs that use semiconductor lasers and associated detectors. You will be working with the entire product lifecycle, which in addition to pure electronics development also involves specifying electronic requirements and supporting electronic production. The work is often carried out in project form together with various disciplines within the company. It offers great independence and we want you to bring new ideas and show initiative. It is important that you are genuinely interested in optronic design and want to expand your knowledge within this field. You will be working with complex systems, and it is important that you are a fast learner.
Your qualifications
You probably have an engineering degree in electronics (E/Y or equivalent) and have several years experience. Since we work in project form, it is important that you enjoy working in teams, but also that you enjoy completing assignments independently. Experience of the following is advantageous:
• Knowledge of design of analogue electronics.
• Experience of working with semiconductor lasers and photo detectors.
• PCB design with a mixture of analogue and digital.
• Troubleshooting of complex systems.
• We use Mentor Graphics' tools for electronic design, so it is an advantage if you have used them before.
