EIT Health was designated as an EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) by the EIT Governing Board on 09 December 2014. It brings together more than 140 outstanding partner organizations from industry, higher education, research, public society, and healthcare in Europe across 14 EU countries.
The goal of EIT Health is to contribute to increasing the competitiveness of European industry, improve the quality of life of Europe's citizens and the sustainability of healthcare system. EIT Health will overcome the fragmentation of different healthcare systems in Europe and give companies easier access to markets across the EU.
The investments drive pan-European education and innovation activities geared towards the delivery of high-impact results. The activities are executed through European ecosystems through so-called Co-Location Centres in London (UK/Ireland), Stockholm (Scandinavia), Barcelona (Spain), Paris (France), Heidelberg (Germany) and Rotterdam (Belgium-Netherlands). Furthermore, EIT Health includes 6 "InnoStars" regions in Wales, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.
EIT Health is now in the process of establishing its infrastructure and resources both at the European and CLC levels. Its annual budget will grow over years to reach more than 100 M?.

You set new standards for European industrial healthcare conditions.
If you have a strong combination of industrial understanding, leadership experience and relationship management competencies, this is a rare opportunity for you to enable the long-term success of EIT Health. We are looking for an innovative and visionary Director who is able to drive our Scandinavian EIT Health Co-Location Centre (CLC) to success.
Enhance the conditions for healthcare activities across EU
Your overall objective is to build up a successful and efficient organisation from scratch. This means that you define the demand for resources, set the team, and develop, drive and monitor the activities of the Scandinavian CLC. You use your excellent leadership skills to influence the national health agenda and liaise with national innovation programmes, local partners and government bodies to create a sustainable organisation.
You will build and maintain positive and long-standing relationships with your stakeholders. To be successful, you foster a high level of commitment and acceptance of the development of our activities amongst EIT Health partners. You will be a member of the EIT Management team and report to the board with representatives from the Scandinavian academic community, public partners and private companies.
Entrepreneurial mindset and excellent managerial skills
You have an industrial background and comprehensive experience managing innovation units. Hence, your CV mirrors quite some insight into development and implementation of health innovation strategies. Moreover, you are used to collaborating with national innovation programmes, local partners and national government bodies. You bring an extensive professional network from the health sector, and you use your entrepreneurial mindset and solid managerial competencies and experience to build up, lead and motivate a committed and professional staff. Besides insight into administration and budget management, you have lots of experience raising funds. And if you have experience operating a legal entity including finance, HR issues, it will give you a head start.
You are a compelling communicator who knows when to publish what, and your strong drive and entrepreneurial mindset make you result-oriented and resilient, and this empowers you to develop the EIT organisation and handle all stakeholders professionally in a complicated and fast-moving market.
Reporting
The Scandinavian CLC Director will be reporting to the board of a non-profit association that is in creation with representatives from Uppsala University, Karolinska Institutet, the Royal Institute of Technology, Copenhagen University, the City of Stockholm, Novo Nordisk, LEO Pharma, Thermo Fisher Scientific and RISE as the board members.
Qualifications
• Senior Health innovation manager with minimally 10 years of experience in managing innovation units, with industry background.
• Strong experience in development and implementation of Health innovation strategies in interaction with universities, industry, research institutes, public partners and healthcare providers
• Proven ability to lead professional staff and engage a broad array of individuals
• Demonstrated experience in administration, budget management and raising funds;
• An extensive and relevant people network in the Scandinavia innovation ecosystem in the health sector
• Team worker with excellent leadership and communication skills that can operate on strategic level with national partners as well as with other MT members in EIT Health
• Excellent communication and public relations skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders;
The following will be a plus for the application:
• Experience with managing and operating a legal entity, including finance, HR and legal matters
• Strong experience in strategic planning and execution
• Strong experience in international collaboration
• Academic background in the Health area is a plus but not a prerequisite
Languages
• Fluent in English in speech and writing
• Knowledge of any of the European languages is a merit
Employment & Travel
Employment is by a Legal entity of Swedish EIT Health CLC. Physical location of work is in Stockholm/Solna, the Scandinavian EIT Health CLC office. Physical work must also be carried out in the Copenhagen region, Denmark.
The CLC Director should have an availability of five days per week but there is a possibility to start the position as part-time (75%). The Node Director needs to be prepared to travel on a regular basis to different EIT Health locations across Europe.
