hela Sverige The European Spallation Source is one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today. The project includes the most powerful linear proton accelerator ever built, a five-tonne, helium-cooled tungsten target wheel, 15 state-of-the-art neutron instruments, a suite of laboratories, and a supercomputing data management and software development centre. In the context of its history and future as a scientific organisation, however, it is more than the sum of its parts. It is a brand-new Big Science organisation and we are building it from the ground up.
Come and build the future of Science with us!
About the role:
The ESS is at an exciting turning point. It is in transition from being a construction site, to being an operating facility. To help us realise our goal of being the most powerful neutron source in the world, we are seeking to appoint a dedicated and detail-oriented Documentation Engineer to join our central Engineering Management Group. As a key member of the Technical Content Management (TCM) function, you will play a vital role in managing facility information and documentation within our main enterprise systems, including the Plant/Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and our Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and efficiency of our documentation processes. This includes reading and analysing drawings across various domains, such as Process, Mechanical, and Electrical, to create structured information within our systems. You will provide support for identified work packages at ESS, collaborating closely with the Technical Content Manager on daily operational tasks and initiatives.
Additionally, you will be responsible for managing and creating part information in our systems, as well as uploading and organising documentation. Your role will involve analysing system usage and identifying opportunities for the development of new functions to streamline workflow processes. You will also conduct training sessions and workshops with end users to ensure optimal utilisation of our enterprise systems as well as manage and support projects in establishing configuration items and related lists of objects in accordance with ESS plan for configuration management.
In this role you will also analyse and extract data from our systems to support operational and analytical needs. In collaboration with the TCM manager, you will contribute to updating rules, guidelines, and procedures governing documentation management processes. Additionally, you will provide support to projects related to the establishment and administration of baselines for different systems within the facility.
This is a full-time, permanent position based at the ESS Campus in Lund, Sweden.
About you:
To thrive with us in the Technical Content Management team, you need to be driven, responsive and good at spotting both problems and opportunities. You need to be a highly motivated person who isn't afraid to get stuck into complex challenges.
First and foremost, we need a candidate with an engineering background. This means that you really need to have a relevant educational degree within engineering or similar area and at least 2 years of experience. However, relevant experience in a similar role is more critical than the type of degree you hold. To thrive with us in the Technical Content Management team, you need to be driven, responsive and good at seeing opportunities. We need a highly motivated person who is able to work independently in a structured way, and who isn't afraid to communicate with colleagues at every level of the organisational hierarchy.
We are building ESS from the ground up, so we need someone who is comfortable not only following procedures, but also creating them. We are looking for someone who is fundamentally interested in technical information structures and management. We want someone who is eager to develop themselves, but who also wants to support and educate others. Naturally, we need someone who is comfortable with MS Office (especially Excel), but if you are able to bring any prior experience of working with any of Enovia, InforEAM, Catia V6/ePLAN or the Jira/Confluence platforms, then this would be a distinct advantage.
We attach great importance to personality and attitude, so we're looking for a real team player: Someone who is sociable, has excellent communication skills, who likes to collaborate with different people and who is committed to helping this amazing project to realise its full potential.
The working language of ESS is English, so there is no need for you to speak Swedish - although this is always an advantage.
What can we offer?
Aside from the chance to work at truly unique big science project, you can also expect:
• An opportunity to contribute to the future discoveries within neutron science.
• A stunning, brand new workplace filled with innovative minds and brilliant people from across the globe.
• A challenging, innovative and stimulating work environment.
• Market competitive compensation that is individual and differentiated according to role, responsibilities, individual skills, abilities and achievements.
• 30 days of annual leave, as well as more than 10 days of public holiday and company days off or days with limited working hours.
• Monthly pension contributions on top of your salary.
If you see yourself in what we're looking for, please provide your CV and motivation letter in English by clicking on "apply" and following the instructions. Please be aware that we can only accept direct applications made via the ESS website.
Certain roles at ESS require health and safety checks and/or security clearance procedures, which will be performed as part of the recruitment process.
We review applications continuously, so don't miss out! Submit your application as soon as you can and quote the job reference number ESD-43213 in your application.
