The Department of Engineering and Sustainable Development offers courses in construction, energy, ecotechnology, environmental science, sports technology, and quality and leadership development. The research programme at the department is strong and is developing rapidly. Important interactions exist with major industrial organisations with focus on forestry, bioenergy, wood products, pulp and paper.

Job description: Increased use of sustainably produced forest resources can help to mitigate climate change. The productivity of Swedish forests can be considerably improved through changes in management practices, the conditions for which may vary spatially and by species type. The successful candidate will estimate the potential for forest productivity improvement in the Jämtland and Västernorrland regions of Sweden. The candidate will also analyze how the choice of technological and logistical solutions for recovery and transport of forest resources influences efficient use of biomass resources, taking into account factors such as forest productivity, scale of operation, and transport distances.
Conditions for employment: This is full time position (100%). Duties should begin as soon as possible. The position is linked to a registration as PhD student in Ecotechnology and Environmental Science at Mid Sweden University.
Monthly salary: SEK 20,700 (approximately € 2150)
Qualification requirements: Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree of at least 120 credits including specialization of at least 60 credits in Ecotechnology and Environmental Science or related subjects. A master’s degree in the field of forestry is a significant merit. Experience with forest growth modeling is an asset. Courses passed with distinction are considered as merit, as is relevant work experience. Candidates should have good knowledge of English.
