Director Manufacturing Engineering

We are now looking for a Director for our Engineering team. This position is a very important role in the Skövde Plant Organization as well as in the Skövde Plant Management Team reporting directly to the Vice President & Plant Manager. You will also report to and be a part of the global Manufacturing Engineering Extended Management Team for Powertrain Production.

The Engineering organization in Skövde has approximately 300 employees today. The responsibility includes the technology development for casting, machining, assembly and internal material handling as well as central functions such as ME process development, Business Office and Project Office. The task contains both developing of the existing production system and implement/adapt processes for future demands. The responsibility calls for both independence and strong co-operation, both internal and external.

Main activities and responsibilities for this role:
Develop the manufacturing process toward future demands and embrace the future technologies and competencies in accordance with Industry 4.0
Build and coach your team and organization, secure resources and competences in order to fulfill set targets and vision
Adapt the industrial system toward future volumes and products
Implement new products related to propulsion and running product changes in the industrial system
Responsibility for Pilot Plant concerning casting-, machining- and assembly processes worldwide
Be able to lead strategic and organizational development for your function in collaboration with the global functions, production functions, as well as other support functions

Critical competencies and experience

We are looking for a goal-oriented leader with a strong drive to deliver and have the ability to continually develop and improve the organization and its employees. Excellent communication skills are essential to be able to build networks and create trusting relationships. You believe in building a knowledge based organization with a strong x-functional teamwork as a foundation.

Demonstrating a high and solid level in each of the Volvo Group Leadership competencies for the leading leader level, the Director Engineering will be an inspiring and inclusive leader as well as an active team member.

The ideal candidate for this positions has a long experience and knowledge of Manufacturing, especially in Engineering, a University degree in relevant subject and experience from management. Further, you are able to demonstrate a clear vision, a global mind-set and successful people & culture oriented leadership.
