Do you want to drive the building of the world we want to live in?
We are looking for our new director of Emerging Technologies. A visionary and entrepreneurial leader that leads Volvo CE's explorations of emerging technologies and customer needs in order to create future solutions. As director of emerging technologies you take on the responsibility to secure Volvo CE's innovative capability, future competences and technology vision. You will be part of the Advanced Engineering and Core Technology leadership team. We are a strategic Leadership team where we focus and work towards find our future technologies and business opportunities.
We are looking for an individual that trough engagement can lead collaboration and co-creation with help of a small core team. The mission is to drive Volvo CE's technology evolution and secure that the organization balances the work on current product and next generation product/solutions with the long term needs for transformation. You need to inspiring and engage the people within Volvo CE to take on and prepare for the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.
You are a passionate and engage leader who enjoys driving change, can give clarity and is capable to set the directions forward. As a person you have strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, develop and engage your team.
Main responsibilities
Lead the work to identify and engage Volvo CE in exploring new promising technologies.
Drive the vision of Volvo CE's technology transformation
Drive the networks that ensures innovation trough collaboration with academic, industry and customer partners
Drive academic research collaborations in the selected emerging technology domains that are strategically important to Volvo CE
Drive Design Thinking methodology for the technology organization to understand future customer needs and embrace emerging technologies in the create future solutions
Evolve and assess Volvo CE's Innovative capabilities
Evolve and assess Volvo CE's technology competence, including the coordination of the Technology Specialist program
Required competencies / Key Skills
Academic research background, preferred academic degree PhD
Understanding of construction industry, heavy vehicle industry
Experience in design thinking and innovation tools and methods
Fluent in written and spoken English. Additional languages are a plus
Strong people management skills
