The diagnostic teams in the department Complete Powertrain are involved early in the development of new powertrain concepts. It is a large challenge to develop solutions that both meet legal requirements and have maximum robustness not causing customer disturbances. The teams are responsible for development of system solutions, functional design and verification in full-scale test cars. We realise our ideas through the development of functionality software in a number of embedded control systems.

As a Development Engineer for Diagnostic Kernel and External Diagnostic Communications you will work with all engine and transmission control systems. The main task for the Diagnostic Kernel is to offer a generic toolbox for the different detectors (monitors) and counter measures (inhibitions and reconfiguration). The main task for the External Diagnostic Communication is to provide a generic toolbox that delivers accurate error information to the aftermarket tool at workshops. The team is responsible for designing, optimising and validating diagnostic functions for all Powertrain units to fulfil OBD and workshop requirements worldwide. We are looking to strengthen our team with a Diagnostic Kernel responsible Engineer who will work in projects both during early phases and close to production start.

Main responsibilities

• Handle agreements of requirements and also distribute requirements to other PSS/ departments
• Provide requirements for ESOW
• Contact person for method engineers developing repair methods for the aftermarket.
• Liaison with internal and external suppliers
• Develop methods for the functional design and calibration process
• Team leader for Diagnostic core & Communication and representing the team in SA3 team

Required qualifications

• University degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent experience
• Work experience in electronic diagnostic systems and of system specifications
• Drivers License (B-level)
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Experience of embedded control systems is meritorious
• Experience of AutoSar in the diagnostic domain is meritorious
• Experience in use of commercial simulation tools, such as Matlab/Simulink is meritorious
• Skills in designing software algorithms is meritorious
• Experience from engines and engine control systems is meritorious

• Capability to understand complex systems and functions
• Ability to work effectively as part of an engineering team in a mix of cultures
• Well organised and a talent for a structured approach
